A Study on Factors Affecting Purchase Intention of Eco-Friendly Cosmetics : An Integrated Model of Theory of Consumption Value and Extended Theory of Planned Behavior
The purpose of this study aims to combine the theory of consumption value and the extended theory of planned behavior(ETPB) to explain as an integrated model on factors affecting consumers' purchase intention of eco-friendly cosmetics. Data collected from 443 respondents in korea are tested against the integrated model by using a hierarchical regression analysis. First, the findings indicate that the explanatory power of the model was much improved(R2: from 17.4% to 66.1%) in the integrated model than that of individual theories. Second, The results indicate that among the variables of the theory of consumption value, emotional value and social value were found to be statistically significant. Third, the results indicate that among the variables of the extended theory of planned behavior(ETPB) attitude, perceived behavioral control and prior knowledge have a significant impact on consumers' intention towards purchasing eco-friendly cosmetics. The use experience dummy (-), functional value (-), and subjective norm were found to be statistically insignificant. This study expanded the existing theory in that it was explained as an integrated model by combining the theory of consumption value and the extended theory of planned behavior(ETPB) on the determinants of purchase intention for eco-friendly cosmetics. Further research on the relationship between the evaluation of the quality level of eco-friendly cosmetics and purchase intention seems to be necessary in the future.
